June 19, 2008. University of Notre Dame Selects Primo, Completing its Suite of Ex Libris Solutions. Ex Libris Group announced that the Hesburgh Libraries of Notre Dame in conjunction with its colleagues in the Michiana Academic Library Consortium have selected the Primo discovery and delivery solution to serve as a major library portal. An Ex Libris customer for over 10 years, Notre Dame was the first North American institution to implement the Ex Libris Aleph integrated library system. After carefully researching the current Ex Libris product offering, as well as the company’s long-term strategy, Southampton Solent University has chosen the Aleph integrated library system—which will be replacing the university’s Axiell DDElibra system—and the Primo discovery and delivery solution to serve as a cutting-edge interface to the entire library collection. March 13, 2008. Ex Libris integrates direct links to Google About this Book pages in its products. Ex Libris Group announced the successful integration of "About this book" pages from Google Book Search service into Ex Libris products. Using a new “viewability” application programming interface supported by Google Book Search, library patrons can now enhance their findings with Google Book Search features such as full text, book previews, cover thumbnails, and a mashup from Google Maps linking pages in a book describing a specific place to its location on the world map. Use of this “viewability” API has been added to the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution, SFX context-sensitive link resolver, and the Aleph and Voyager integrated library systems. <<more>>
February 14, 2008. Institutions in Asia continue to adopt Ex Libris Solutions. Ex Libris announced that the number of customers in the Asia Pacific region, particularly in Chinese-speaking countries, continues to expand. Of late, six institutions in China—Wuhan University, Chongqing University Library, Shenzhen Polytechnic College, Capital University of Economics and Business, Beijing International Studies University, and Nanjing Library—have chosen to acquire Aleph, the Ex Libris integrated library system.
