May 15, 2012. Yale Law School's Library now live on the Sierra Services Platform. Innovative announced that the Lillian Goldman Law Library at Yale Law School went live with the Sierra Services Platform last week. As a next-generation services platform, Sierra is built on an open-systems architecture that provides a library with access to its circulation, technical services, and patron data though an open relational database and a suite of documented application interface extensions. Unlike other systems, Sierra offers out-of-the-box, fully featured library workflows and integrated resource management delivering the functionality and performance that libraries trust to run their operations. May 4, 2012. Bloomfield Township Public Library (MI) now live on Sierra. Innovative announced that the Bloomfield Township Public Library in Michigan went live with the Sierra Services Platform last week. The Library is the first among roughly 435 public libraries that have selected Sierra to successfully install the new system. <<more>>


April 22, 2012. Senior Secured loan program closes $751 Million in commitments during the first quarter of 2012. The Senior Secured Loan Program (SSLP), jointly managed by an affiliate of Ares Capital Corporation and an affiliate of GE Capital, announced today that it closed seven financing commitments totaling $751 million, including refinancing transactions, during the first quarter of 2012. Since January 1, 2010, the SSLP has committed approximately $6.7 billion to middle market borrowers. GE Capital Markets and Ares Capital served as joint lead arrangers and joint bookrunners in a senior secured term loan provided by the SSLP to support the acquisition of Innovative Interfaces Inc. by Huntsman Gay Global Capital, LLC and JMI Equity. Innovative Interfaces Inc. is a provider of technology and services to over 4,500 public, private and academic libraries. In addition, GE Capital, through its GE Antares Capital subsidiary, provided a senior secured revolving credit facility in support of the transaction. <<more>>


April 17, 2012. Hillsdale College (MI) now live on the Sierra Services Platform. Innovative announced that Hillsdale College in Michigan is now live on the Sierra Services Platform for all its staff-side library functions, as well as full integration with its Encore discovery application. Sierra is now offering a single administration app tailored to the needs of each user, along with the power of open architecture that positions the library for the future. April 16, 2012. Innovative Users Group (IUG) draws nearly 1,200 for Annual Conference in Chicago, IL. Innovative Interfaces announced that the Innovative Users Group (IUG) has convened its 20th Annual Conference that runs from April 16-18, 2012. Nearly 1,200 library professionals from nineteen countries have gathered in Chicago, Illinois to discuss best practices for using Innovative's products, report on creative and unique implementations of technology, and provide updates about partnerships with Innovative's product-development team. The program includes 118 presentations conducted by the attendees or jointly with Innovative staff. March 22, 2012. Academic Libraries in Scotland partner for new cost effectiveness and shared services. University of the West of Scotland and the Scottish Agricultural College will join University of the Highlands and Islands to share the Millennium ILS, resulting in a gain in functionality, cost effectiveness, and choice in managing library operations. The shared Millennium system will bring together collections that total over 700,000 physical items, while offering the full functionality of the integrated ERM system to all three partners. February 6, 2012. Innovative partners with Relais to provide streamlined resource-sharing workflow. Innovative Interfaces announced that it has partnered with Relais International to integrate Innovative's Millennium Circulation with Relais' D2D at twelve partner libraries. The joint implementation allows for quicker processing of requested items by patrons and improves resource-sharing workflow for library staff. Patrons can log into Relais D2D Discovery and conduct a search across multiple partner catalogs. January 19, 2012. Encore Release 5 brings social networking capabilities to discovery platform. Innovative announced the launch of Encore Release 5, which will incorporate social Web features to provide a more relevant, visible, and engaging presence for today's libraries. In Release 5 of Encore, users will be able to "like" all kinds of library content such as books, movies, and music. Sharing these finds on social networks will be easy, with the use of a standard set of sharing links that include Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others. Encore Release 5 will also provide users with the ability to create and share their own home page with options to include a profile, reviews, reading lists they create, or items they have checked out or put on hold. Innovative Interfaces announced that Jerry Kline, co-founder and CEO, has reached an agreement to purchase the outstanding shares of the company from co-founder Steve Silberstein. Upon closing of the transaction, which is expected by the end of the year, Kline will assume full ownership of the company.

Innovative Interfaces, Inc., purchased SLS Information Systems of Great Britain. SLS has over 700 installations in Europe, including more than 50 in academic libraries. Its primary product is Libertas. SLS was owned by 16 UK universities. Innovative purchased all of the outstanding stock for cash. The deal includes subsidiaries in Scandinavia (Stockholm) and Spain (Madrid) . SLS currently has a staff of 46 people.

Innovative Interfaces had a record year in 1995, signing 100 new-name customers during the year, including 11 academic research libraries and 20 public libraries.


Library Systems Newsletter (September 1993). OhioLink system up and running

OhioLINK is the first in which all activity of the separate local library systems is recorded and displayed immediately in the statewide union catalog. The OhioLINK INNOPAC statewide union catalog went online for the public on November 11, 1992, with 2.4 million bibliographic records from six university libraries, including: Case Western Reserve, Bowling Green, University of Cincinnati, Miami University, Central State University and Wright State University.

The European University Institute's recent installation of the INNOPAC library automation system marks the entry of Innovative Interfaces, Inc., into the European market.
