Bristol, UK, April 28, 2009. Infor, the exclusive distributor of AquaBrowser Library in Great Britain and Republic of Ireland, today announced that the National Library of Wales has purchased the AquaBrowser search and discovery platform by Medialab Solutions BV. The National Library of Wales will implement AquaBrowser to provide users with improved access to millions of manuscripts, archives, audio-visual and printed items on every subject about Wales and the world.
Dr. Paul Bevan, Senior Research Officer (Web 2.0) at the National Library of Wales, says: "The National Library of Wales is constantly striving to enhance our services to readers both within the Library and via the web. The National Library of Wales is proud of our innovative search solutions and AquaBrowser represents an important aspect of our continuing growth in this area. AquaBrowser is one of the final components of the Library’s Information Management System solution and represents a key milestone in the Library’s programme of data migration and integrated access provision."
AquaBrowser will interface directly with the library’s Virtua library management system from VTLS and Proquest’s WebFeat Express federated search application. The library’s collections include approximately 6 million bibliographic records. For more information about the National Library of Wales visit: http://www.llgc.org.uk/index.php?id=2
AquaBrowser’s mission is to help the library play a central role in the provision and safeguarding of knowledge. AquaBrowser Library, the world leader in visual faceted searching, helps the library take centre stage by opening up all of its resources to the community. My Discoveries was created to take the next step: to give a role and a voice to the community, and to connect the people who create, organize and use the library’s resources, inside and outside the library.
