Following a competitive tender process, Torfaen County Borough Council has chosen the Talis Library Management Suite to provide a range of modern library services to over 90,000 citizens.
Over the coming months, the Talis Consultancy team will be working closely with Torfaen Libraries to implement Talis Alto (Talis' market leading library management system (LMS)) and Talis Prism, the next generation OPAC.
The Talis LMS was chosen because of its ability to integrate with third party systems. Across the four static and two mobile libraries, Torfaen has also chosen to integrate its finance system with the Talis LMS, and they will also be using the Talis Electronic Supply Chain to automate procurement, free up staff time, and speed up the supply chain process. The new LMS will also seamlessly integrate with its self-service machines (supplied by Plescon) and PC bookings system (supplied by Netloan, Lorensbergs).
Work to migrate from the SirsiDynix Horizon suite has already began, aiming to completely implement the new Windows based solution from Talis by spring 2010. Christine George, Library and Information Manager at Torfaen Libraries commented: "Torfaen Library and Information Service look forward to working with Talis to implement a flexible, high quality library management system which will underpin excellent customer care."
Alison Kershaw, Head of Products at Talis commented: "We are delighted that Torfaen County Borough Council selected Talis. We look forward to delivering the implementation and integration solutions that they have identified over the coming months."
