Abstract: SydneyPLUS International released Site Map, a powerful Information Manager (IM) add-on that puts documents into the hands of users faster. With IM Site Map capabilities, administrators can setup IM to run at scheduled intervals and select specific records for inclusion into a sitemap of hyperlinks. The links point to SydneyPLUS records making them crawl-able by a search engine. As a result, users can search and retrieve entire SydneyPLUS catalog records, holdings information, and linked documents right alongside records from other corporate databases.

(Vancouver, Canada - October 14, 2009) SydneyPLUS International, producer of innovative km solutions for Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies around the world, has just released Site Map, a powerful Information Manager (IM) add-on that puts documents into the hands of users faster.

In an intranet environment, organizations may simplify document retrieval for users by providing a portal that can retrieve any corporate record in a single universal search. To make this possible, federated search technologies, like SharePoint's MS Search, are used to scan multiple, often disparate databases and retrieve their records into a single hit list. IM Site Map allows all or part of a library's collection to be part of that search.

With IM Site Map capabilities, administrators can setup IM to run at scheduled intervals and select specific records for inclusion into a sitemap of hyperlinks. The links point to SydneyPLUS records making them "crawl-able" by a search engine. As a result, users can search and retrieve entire SydneyPLUS catalog records, holdings information, and linked documents right alongside records from other corporate databases. Not limited to intranets, companies can use Site Map to deploy their SydneyPLUS database to the internet through Google and other similar search engines.

The SydneyPLUS Site Map:

  • Expands access to valuable knowledge resources through federated search engines
  • Utilizes industry standard SharePoint MS Search and Google search engine technology
  • Alleviates security concerns through exacting control over what part of a collection is searched
  • Accelerates implementation with a simple setup process

As veteran SydneyPLUS km project manager Jeff Xerri notes, "The power behind IM Site Map is that now you can control what parts of your site search engines, like Google and SharePoint MS Search, can find and crawl. This can make the contents of a SydneyPLUS database easily available almost anywhere. Best of all, it can be up and running within a day or two."

SydneyPLUS is pleased to be able to offer such an exciting new capability to their customers. For more information contact SydneyPLUS at (604) 278-6717 or contact sales@sydneyplus.com.
