Vancouver, Canada – May 24, 2011) SydneyPLUS International, a dominant supplier of KM, ILS and SharePoint solutions to top law firms, Fortune 1000 companies, and government agencies, has recruited Hal Marcus as Global Sales Director of LawPort Solutions. Marcus' role is focused on promoting LawPort for SharePoint 2010, a potent amplifier of the value of SharePoint-based law firm intranets.
A former antitrust litigator and veteran of LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters, and Law.com, Marcus spent much of the last decade leading sales for LiveNote – helping it become the most widely used litigation software of any kind by the Am Law 200 with over 80% market penetration.
Following LiveNote's successful acquisition by Thomson Reuters in 2006, Marcus served as Thomson's V.P. of Litigation Product Management before stepping into the KM space with iCyte, an online research management service. An active member of the California State Bar, Marcus has been a frequent speaker at LegalTech, ILTA, and ALSM conferences and has seen his writings published by the ABA Litigation Section.
"I'm excited to be working for a true pioneer in legal KM," said Marcus. "When I was first exposed to LawPort a decade ago, it was a groundbreaking legal portal platform. Today, LawPort is part of a suite of products supporting a broad base of clients worldwide, including 50% of the Am Law Global 100."
Released in 2009, LawPort 5.0 combined SydneyPLUS / LawPort's signature framework with the flexibility and collaborative capabilities of MOSS 2007. LawPort for SharePoint 2010 builds further on this foundation, working alongside SharePoint to accelerate deployment, streamline support and unleash valuable content.
Hal Marcus joins LawPort co-creator and premier consultant Marcus Liban in the San Francisco Bay Area. The team rapidly becoming known as "Marcus & Marcus", is responsible for working with CIOs, KM and IT professionals looking to reap the benefits of robust, efficiently deployed SharePoint 2010 portals.
"We're very pleased to add Hal's expertise and industry presence to our experienced team," said SydneyPLUS president Ron Aspe. "SydneyPLUS personnel are uniquely qualified to support legal professionals worldwide seeking to harness the power of their own information."
