Abstract: The discovery and management family of services from Serials solutions has a name: it will be called Intota

I'm excited to tell you about what's new in the development of our web-scale management solution, the latest innovation in our discovery and management family of services. The new baby finally has a name and it will be called Intota.

We've been talking a lot these past six months all over the world about what our web-scale management solution will accomplish for libraries and librarians. We wanted a name that reflected that vision. Intota speaks to the comprehensiveness of the solution a single, centrally provisioned system that supports the entire resource lifecycle, regardless of resource type. It's your entire library managed in one place.

Of course there's more to Intota than just the ease and convenience of its unified design (a design built from scratch no legacy ILS systems around here to worry about). When we conceived Intota, it was to solve a fundamental problem, the fact that while today's collections are predominantly electronic, but the tools and workflows you use every day were built for print. These outdated methods create redundancies and inefficiencies that suck time and money and keep you from the really important job of delivering quality services to your patrons. As Jane Burke said at ALA last year, your job has gotten seriously junked up.

Intota will change all that. A shared data model will create efficiency and accuracy that will benefit all library operations. Interoperability with other library and campus systems means the library becomes an integral part of the organization and its mission. True SaaS functionality, far beyond hosting, will significantly lower total cost of ownership. And at the risk of sounding biased, Intota is being built by Serials Solutions, the company that brought you a series of firsts to stake a claim as a true library software innovator.
