Denver, CO, June 22. Enterprise business software provider J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC) today announced the appointment of Jack Blount to vice president of technical development. Blount will be responsible for the Company's technology direction, with particular focus on E-business and interoperability. Heading technical development and technical marketing, Blount's charter is to identify strategic product solutions and increase the efficiency of bringing them to market.
Reporting to Jim Foos, senior vice president of technology development, Blount will oversee the ongoing development, improvement and marketing of J.D. Edwards' e-business solution, ActivEra(TM) E-Business, recently introduced at the Company's user conference. In addition, Blount will spearhead the strategy, development and delivery of interoperability, ensuring tight integration between J.D. Edwards' applications with third-party solutions.

Blount brings 25 years of experience in the computer industry to J.D. Edwards. Most recently he was the founder and CEO of two startup software companies developing award winning Internet products. Blount also spent much of his career working for companies such as Borland, where he was senior vice president of worldwide products, managing engineering and marketing; eight years at IBM in numerous technical and engineering positions; and seven years at Novell, as executive vice president, directing engineering, product marketing and strategic planning. Blount was also responsible for the development of a wireless Internet connectivity solution, giving him experience using JavaBeans to develop technology for enterprise environments.
J.D. Edwards provides Idea to Action software for managing the enterprise and supply chain. The Company's integrated applications give customers control over their front office, manufacturing, logistics/distribution, human resources and finance processes for the consumer products, industrial and service industries. J.D. Edwards enables Idea to Action with ActivEra, a collection of tools and technologies that extend J.D.
