Abstract: Douglas County Libraries in Colorado is testing a new acquisitions dashboard developed in partnership with Impelsys, a company that works with publishers to deliver and market eContent.
Douglas County Libraries (DCL) in Colorado is testing a new acquisitions dashboard developed in partnership with Impelsys, a company that works with publishers to deliver and market eContent.
The dashboard will allow DCL's collection development and acquisitions staff to receive new title metadata directly from DCL's publisher partners. A publisher new to the DCL family of partners could upload its entire catalog to the dashboard, which facilitates easy receipt and assessment of item records, cover art, subjects, prices, etc.
Once the beta test phase is complete, the dashboard will be available from Impelsys for purchase by other libraries.
Douglas County Libraries is a passionate advocate for literacy and lifelong learning. DCL is the fourth largest library system in Colorado, circulating more than 8 million items annually, including more children's materials than any other Colorado library. DCL has pioneered the management of digital media for library lending, including building its eContent collection by purchasing digital content directly from publishers, circumventing lease agreements with traditional distributors.
