easton, PA -- February 12, 2013. LM Information Delivery Group and Wolper Information Services have merged to create a combined, global force in the information management industry. LM is one of Europe's leading subscription and information services providers and Wolper is a leading provider of subscription and information management services in the U.S.
Both LM and Wolper were established in the early to mid-1970s and have significantly expanded their customer bases and breadth of services over the past 5 years. Both organizations are involved with the management and dissemination of information in all aspects of print and electronic content, within the academic, corporate, research, government, medical and public library market segments.
"LM recognises the changing environment of the library world, driven by increased technological complexity, rapid and changing growth in content, and the subsequent need for greater levels of service, customisation and local customer service," said LM Information Delivery Group's CEO, Janne Järvinen. "Together, we are stronger and able to deliver more value and opportunities to each of our customer bases."
"Wolper and LM have complementary strengths, interests and cultures," added Susan Wolper, who has led Wolper Information Services for the past 20 years. "Independently, we have embarked on company growth by emphasizing personalized, professional customer service and cutting-edge technology as the cornerstone of our value proposition."
Both companies' leadership teams are committed to a seamless transition, preserving continuity and quality of service for existing customers. Longer term, the group will look to take advantage of synergies to deliver new innovations and enhanced value to customers in the acquisition and management of content, which increasingly means e-resources.
Susan Wolper will continue to lead the U.S. organization as President and CEO of Wolper Information Services, a separate, established and widely recognized business and brand in the U.S. market. All North American sales and support functions will continue to be handled through Wolper's headquarters in Easton, PA.
Previously, in January 2011, LM expanded from its roots in the Nordics and Baltics to establish an affiliate in the UK. Under Järvinen's direction, LM has become one of Europe's leading subscription and information services providers.
Wolper was established in 1976. Ms. Wolper, a former corporate attorney specializing in real estate, joined the family-owned company in 1990 as Vice President and became sole owner and President and CEO in 1993. Along with LM's UK Country Manager Tony Roche, she serves on the Executive Committee and as Auditor of the international Association of Subscription Agents & Intermediaries.
