Abstract: D-Tech announced the installation of their eVendit self-service public computer vending system at Robbins Library in Arlington, Massachusetts. The eVendit allows patrons the freedom to use public laptop computers anywhere in the library.

D-Tech is pleased to announce the installation of their eVendit self-service public computer vending system at Robbins Library in Arlington, Massachusetts. The eVendit allows patrons the freedom to use public laptop computers anywhere in the library.

Ryan Livergood, the Director of Libraries for the Town of Arlington, stated, "Our goal was to free up space in the library while at the same time allow collaboration by various groups with our computers in the library. We offer wireless internet access as well as wireless printing so we no longer need to tether computers and printers to specific areas or corrals." Another great benefit is that it frees up staff to focus on other services.

The D-Tech eVendit connects to the library's ILS through a SIP2 interface which allows loan policies and checkouts to be managed by the ILS. Emmett Erwin, Vice President of D-Tech, notes that "libraries no longer need to manage public PC reservation and printing systems that pose network issues and are expensive to maintain; rather the D-Tech eVendit automatically dispenses the public computers, charges the patron record and issues receipts." eVendit was designed to allow all types and sizes of laptops and tablets to be dispensed; if the library changes computer makes and/or models, a simple cable change is made keeping your investment safe for years to come.

eVendit has a user-friendly interface that can be customized by the library with their logo, color, photos, etc. Choice of custom colors is included in the price. The system charges the computers and dispenses them in their order of readiness. The base system stores 12 computers and can be upgraded to 96 computers through the attachment of modules.

D-Tech manufactures and develops library security systems, RFID and Self-Check-out systems, plus a full line of vending and sorting solutions. For more information on D-Tech's eVendit or other products, please visit our website at www.d-techinternational.com or email usainfo@d-techdirect.com
