Blacksburg, VA – Richmond Public Library in British Columbia has released their new MozGo Mobile App, becoming the first library to distribute MozGo to their patrons. Richmond was among the first three customers to contract for MozGo immediately following the initial product announcement. The app has been customized and fully "branded" with the library's colors and logo. The app provides searching, lets patrons place holds and view their accounts, and provides library information for each branch. Richmond Public Library, established in 1976, serves a population of about 200,000 and circulates 4.5 million items per year. The library uses Virtua as its ILS and has been a VTLS customer since 2005.

"We're very pleased to have iOS and Android mobile apps for our members and are very much looking forwarding to seeing how quickly and broadly they are adopted," noted Mark Ellis, System Administrator at Richmond Public Library.

The MozGo Mobile App was designed to work with any library system by using a "Mobile Mediator" to manage a direct "live" connection to the library's ILS, eliminating the need for periodic data extraction and ensuring accurate, real-time results.

Dr. Chachra, CEO of VTLS Inc. stated: "Our research indicated that librarians simply did not wish to deal with the constant harvesting and updating of records required by some systems. The architecture of the mobile mediator allows for live transactions for all functions. This reduces work that the library has to do to support this mobile app. We are delighted that the Richmond Public Library saw these benefits and immediately embraced this product. VTLS congratulates them on being the first!"
