April 30, 2013, Bethlehem, Pa. — Backstage Library Works has appointed Robert Paustian as project manager for archival processing. Paustian will lead the continued development of Backstage's archival processing service, consult on collection assessments, and serve as a microfilm and digitization adviser to Backstage product managers and client libraries.

"Rob's talent, proven track record and extensive experience — in library management, administration, development, preservation, production and archival work — make him an invaluable asset to the Backstage team. His new role as archival processing project manager is a natural fit," states John Merrill, Backstage president.

Paustian began his career over 30 years ago as collections librarian with the University of Missouri Libraries. As promotion followed promotion, he continued his path of library stewardship, serving as library director for Wilkes College, in Pennsylvania, the University of South Dakota, and Lebanon Valley College, also in Pennsylvania.

In 2007, OCLC recruited Paustian as project manager to oversee preservation microfilming projects in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He continued his preservation work with Backstage after the company's 2009 acquisition of the OCLC Preservation Service Center.

Paustian holds a Master of Arts degree in library and information science from the University of Missouri and a Master of Arts degree in linguistics from the University of Kansas.
