Emeryville, CA-- June 28, 2013. Innovative Interfaces, Inc. announced today the release of Encore ES - the newest version of Innovative's core discovery product that now more closely integrates eBooks and articles into the library discovery process. The release leverages a partnership with EBSCO to integrate its extensive EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) central index into Encore. In addition, Encore ES will provide users with access to eBook collections of the 3M Cloud Library and OverDrive. Plans are to expand eBook vendor relationship in the near future.
Integration with EDS brings users the most comprehensive collection of full-text articles available into Encore. It is the largest, most encompassing single index of the world's literature, with tens of thousands of participating publishers and other partner resources. The robust metadata offered by EDS is culled from thousands of major journal publishers and information providers, providing the deepest possible indexing for the majority of journals and magazines. In addition, users of Encore ES with EDS benefit from more full-text resources than with any other option.
Integration with OverDrive and 3M provides a robust eBook experience that includes real-time availability for all OverDrive and 3M materials in the Encore results browse, record detail, and cart displays. Users can initiate eBook checkouts & holds for 3M materials directly from the Encore interface, and view the status of those materials in the personalized browse and Encore account view.
Encore ES is the only solution for Innovative libraries that integrates article content without sacrificing the local collection. With a single relevance-ranked set of articles, eResources, eBooks, and print materials, plus harvested digital repositories, users will discover the best from all types of content on the very first page. The user experience is further enhanced through the personalized browse and the patron page, which allows users to see what items they have checked out or on hold. Integration with Sierra and Millennium makes access real-time and keeps maintenance overhead to a minimum.
"Encore ES is part of Innovative's continuing commitment to streamline the user experience by partnering with other leading vendors, such as EBSCO, OverDrive and 3M," says Gene Shimshock, Senior VP of Product and Market Management. "We'll be seeing even more features in the next release of Encore later in the year, but we wanted to bring out the new eBook and article functionality now to meet intense interest on the part of Encore users."
Innovative will be presenting Encore ES at ALA Booth #1827 in Chicago along with a preview of deeper OverDrive integration coming later this year.
