BURNSVILLE, MINN (August 29, 2013)–Mackin Educational Resources is providing complimentary video content and Common Core-supporting activities for teachers as part of "Flip Your Classroom Day: A Global Initiative."
On September 6, 2013, the Flipped Learning Network will host the first Flipped Day. Educators across the globe are currently taking the pledge to flip one lesson to experience Flipped Learning with the expectation this leads to further flipped units or an entire course.
While the Flipped Learning Network (FLN) encourages teachers to create their own videos, many educators prefer to use others' videos as they start to flip or to supplement their own work. FLN has provided a list of flipped lessons to select from, including Mackin's video lesson about online responsibilities for young people in sixth through eighth grades.
"Mackin is pleased to partner with the Flipped Learning Network and to participate in Flipped Day," says Mackin President and CEO Randal Heise. "The video and activities Mackin's educational professionals have prepared are relevant and essential for kids living in today's digital world."
Based on a survey conducted by the Speak Up National Research Project (Fall, 2012), it is estimated that only 3% of the teachers in the U.S. know about or "do" flipped learning. Yet 27% of principals indicated their teachers wanted to try it this year. Flipped Day allows teachers to join the growing ranks of educators who are moving from a teacher-centered classroom to a student-centered learning environment.
