September 10, 2013 -- Emeryville, CA. Winding River Library System (WI), a consortium in Wisconsin serving seven counties covering 5,000 square miles, has selected a suite of Innovative products including the Sierra Services Platform, Encore discovery application and Decision Center. They are migrating from an Iluminar system provided by Auto-Graphics.
"We are seeing a lot of change in public libraries in terms the need for increased patron engagement and convenience," says Kristen Anderson, Director of WRLS. "With Encore, we will be able deliver these features such as ecommerce, while improving the relevance of search results across our collections. With Sierra, we will also be able to send out automated SMS alerts so patrons can get their materials more quickly."
The Sierra Services platform will provide complete library management functionality for the libraries. Says Alan Mask, Technical Services Coordinator: "We gravitated to the Sierra library-staff interface because it looked clean and easy to understand; and we will be better able to integrate other system functions among our consortium's partners."
The Consortium also selected the Decision Center collection management tool. Alan continues: "Library directors were excited about Decision Center. This will empower each library so they can see precisely what is going on as far as budgeting and usage of materials. Weeding and report functionality are very important to public libraries and this will be a great improvement for us."
"This selection underscores Sierra's ongoing success in the consortia and public library markets and its ability to support modern technologies such as mobile and SMS applications," says Christopher Le Blanc, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Innovative. "Libraries around the world are selecting Sierra because it allows them to take advantage of the opportunities presented by new technology in an atmosphere of evolving user needs."
The Winding Rivers Library System (WRLS) serves 34 public libraries in seven west central Wisconsin counties: Buffalo, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau and Vernon.
