BRISTOL, England – December 15, 2006. Infor and its UK Libraries Division are delighted to announce the extension of their relationship with Dumfries and Galloway Council as their Library Management System supplier.

"Dumfries and Galloway Libraries, Information and Archives have been running the Plus Library Management System since 1999 and have chosen to upgrade to Vubis Smart to take advantage of the many developments that have taken place in this field since then" said Alastair Johnston (Operations Manager – Cultural Services).

Dumfries and Galloway is a unitary authority covering most of South West Scotland. It is a large, mostly rural, area with a population of approximately 147,000. Dumfries and Galloway Libraries, Information and Archives operate 25 static and 4 mobile service points across the region.

Vubis Smart is a comprehensive information management system that enables libraries, archives and museums to organize and present data from any source and in any format. The system incorporates convenient workflows and easy-to-use administrative tools. Staff can define multiple formats, databases, indexes, search methods and more. Distinctive rules and parameters may be defined to meet the requirements of individual branches and locations. Users can simultaneously search multiple databases, link to subscription resources and customize the Web OPAC for appearance, language and search results. Unique Web OPAC features include ‘Fuzzy Logic', ‘Associative Searching', Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) and customised news feeds (RSS).
