30 October 2013. York County Community College has selected the Summon discovery service and 360 Link to help lead their students to better research outcomes. In pursuit of a solution to make its entire collection discoverable via a single search interface, the university is working with Serials Solutions, a ProQuest business, to help connect students to the library's new resources.
"We had begun to acquire so many cool new products it was getting difficult to direct our students to them all. Not only does Summon give our students access to all of the products, but as an instructor I can use the Summon interface to highlight the specific kinds of resources we want our students to be using," comments Amber Tatnall, Library Director.
Committed to improving the student research experience, the library staff at York County Community College appreciates functionality offered by the Summon service such as localized recommendations, automated search guidance, and integrated live reference help. With these features, the YCCC library will be able to directly impact and improve the overall discovery process for its students. Amber confides, the addition of the Summon service, "feels like a brave new world for us".
Serials Solutions empowers library staff to significantly advance the research experience for their users. With the help of the Summon service, the York County Community College Library is taking discovery to the next level.
