Abstract: The Softlink and The Catholic Education Office Sydney project to integrate OverDrive eBooks and audiobooks with leading knowledge and library solution Oliver v5 is now live at 16 CEO Sydney schools and ahead of schedule.

The Softlink and The Catholic Education Office (CEO) Sydney project to integrate OverDrive eBooks and audiobooks with leading knowledge and library solution Oliver v5 is now live at 16 CEO Sydney schools and ahead of schedule.

Softlink Project Director John Crook said the project to provide the Archdiocese's 150 schools' with a centralised platform and networked resource collection for students, teachers and parents had already been a great success.

"The implementation is well ahead of plan with more schools than we initially scheduled now having access to eBooks and other eResources anywhere, anytime," Mr Crook said.

Dr Doug Ashleigh, CEO Sydney Director of Knowledge Management and ICT, said this was a significant project for the Archdiocese. "We could not be happier with feedback from our schools about Softlink and OverDrive's implementation of the project to date," Dr Ashleigh said.

"CEO Sydney is committed to the ongoing development of student and academic achievement through digital innovations. This project is an important step towards delivering digital initiatives and supporting the Australian Curriculum across our school network.

CEO Sydney Library Project Manager, John O'Brien, said the team at Softlink has been very supportive.

"We have 16 school communities who are extremely excited about the digital learning opportunities that OverDrive and Oliver v5 provide. We look forward to now rolling out the project across the remainder of our schools."

Teacher librarian, Catherine Rigg from St Brigid's Catholic Primary, Marrickville, said: "OverDrive is live at St Brigid's Marrickville! Are we excited? We certainly are!

"At St Brigid's, our school library is a hub of learning, where students are keen to discover the latest in information technology and the benefits of engaging with reading."

"Our library used to be inside a building, but the walls of this building are now opening wide. Through our Oliver OPAC, we are able to access quality weblinks, connecting us with places and people all over the world."

"Today we moved even further into the 21st century with OverDrive. We now have access to eBooks 24/7 every day of the year during school terms and during holidays. These eBooks can be read on our iPads, laptops and desktops. It is now possible to change the font size, page colour and line spacing of text, allowing our students to tailor the print to their own needs."

"It is not just the students who are excited. It's also our teachers, support staff and parents. eBooks here we come!"

Mr O'Brien said CEO Sydney was pleased to partner with Softlink to meet the Archdiocese's digital resource management goals.

"Softlink is committed to the ongoing development of leading digital technology to meet the ever changing needs of Australian schools," he said.
