Abstract: Tech Logic will soon be installing two large Automated Material Handling systems at both the Minneapolis Central Library and Ridgedale Library in Hennepin County.
White Bear Lake, MN (January 15, 2014) - Tech Logic will soon be installing two large Automated Material Handling (AMH) systems at both the Minneapolis Central Library and Ridgedale Library in Hennepin County.
The Ridgedale system, a 42-bin UltraSort NXT, will include features that have never been done in a library AMH product. The UltraSort will encode an RFID tag on-the-fly, if a tag has not been previously written. The system will also include the new "Print and Apply" product, which will automatically print adhesive hold and transfer slips and apply them to each item while on the conveyer. Introducing this system is anticipated to create substantial labor savings for Ridgedale.
At Minneapolis Central Library, Tech Logic is replacing a current AMH system originally installed by Lyngsoe. For patron convenience, Tech Logic is relocating the current book drop to an area with higher foot traffic patterns. Tech Logic's patented "Throw and Go" book drops will simplify and speed up the return process, while drastically improving the patron experience. The new UltraSort NXT includes underground conveyance and 25 sort locations, which will feature Tech Logic's patented "Smart Bins" with automated flooring systems.
Tech Logic Senior Solutions Specialist, Steve Day, is eager for the install, explaining; "This contract is the result of more than two years of planning, engineering and innovative thinking." "We listened to each library's issues and requests, and will be building an AMH system with ground breaking features that further expand the library's service and return on investment."
Tech Logic currently has over 15 AMH systems throughout the Hennepin County Public Library System. The Ridgedale and Minneapolis Central Library AMH systems will be installed consecutively in fall 2014.
Tech Logic President, Gary Kirk, expressed; "It takes a special group of people to create outstanding solutions to complex problems like those at Minneapolis Central Library and Ridgedale Library. The great leadership at Hennepin County Library and the talented team of engineers and consultants at Tech Logic spent hundreds of hours working together to understand the issues and design systems that solve real needs."
"This is what Tech Logic does every day," Kirk continued, "I am especially proud of my team for what they do, and am especially proud that Hennepin County Public Library is part of the Tech Logic family.
