January 24, 2014 -- Emeryville, CA. Innovative announced today that the newest release of its Decision Center collection management solution includes a new module that helps libraries manage floating collections across multiple locations. The floating collections module is designed to alleviate "pooling" and "drought" situations, which occur when circulating items are unevenly distributed among branches that share collections.
Decision Center is a comprehensive collection management solution that provides timely and focused action recommendations for budgeting, selection, weeding, floating collections, and more. Decision Center helps libraries match supply and demand to deliver optimized service. By accessing current and complete data-including circulation, holds, transits, patrons, and acquisitions-Decision Center provides courses of action that help libraries create customer-driven collections while streamlining collection management workflows.
Tulsa City-County Library was a beta tester for the new Decision Center release. Amanda Owens, Materials Selector for the Library says: "I want to send certain genres and specific titles to locations with the highest demand. For example, I send zero new Westerns to some locations because the demand doesn't justify the purchase and customers at those locations can request them from other ones. Recently, I ordered a couple of Craig Johnson books on CD because there were holds on them and all the copies were missing or overdue."
"Decision Center is the premier collection development tool, and just one example of leveraging the power of Sierra Library Services platform," says Brad Jung, VP of Product Management. "Exposing not only historical data, but also transactional data, powers packaged analytics so that library staff can be more confident that they are making well-informed decisions and creating new operational efficiencies."
