January 24, 2014 -- Emeryville, CA. Innovative announced today that over 120 library systems, which equates to more than 500 academic and public libraries around the globe, selected the Sierra Library Services Platform in 2013. The bulk of these sales occurred in the second half of the year. Innovative is thrilled to announce that included in the sales of Sierra for 2013 are 33 new library systems such as Library Connection Inc., Dauphin County Library System and Pittsburgh State University. This continues a trend of adoption that Library Journal called "unprecedented" in its sector of the industry. Sierra has now reached 430 total sales of library systems by the end of 2013 accounting for 1,450 libraries worldwide.
Innovative also was embraced by libraries outside of North America in 2013, including Barcelona Provincial Council (Spain), Deakin University (Australia), Helsinki Metropolitan Area Libraries (Finland), Istanbul Teknik Universitesi (Turkey), Lingnan University (Hong Kong), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), University François-Rabelais de Tours (France), University of Ghana, University of Salento (Italy), and Weill Cornell Medical College (Qatar).
"We're seeing a very clear trend as Sierra, in its short history, is becoming the dominant platform in the library technology industry," says SVP of Global Sales Christopher Le Blanc. "Innovative is the clear choice for libraries that want to have a solid foundation of capabilities and be open to change as the library-technology ecosystem evolves."
