Chicago, ILóMarch 20, 2014. Ex Libris Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Oklahoma Libraries, along with libraries at the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, and University of Oklahoma College of Law, have selected the Ex Libris Alma library management solution. Chosen after a thorough evaluation of commercial solutions, Alma will replace SirsiDynix Symphony and EBSCONET ERM Essentials systems.
The University of Oklahoma (OU) Libraries adopted the Ex Libris Primo discovery solution in 2013. With the addition of Alma, the unified management of resources will be integrated with unified discovery for users. Fully cloud based, Alma will remove technical burdens for staff members and enable them to implement automated, cross-collection workflows. With Alma the libraries will standardize on a single platform, facilitating collaboration and streamlining the provision of services to students, faculty, and researchers.
"Alma will radically improve the services that we can deliver to faculty and students, better enabling us to support the strategic and educational goals of the University of Oklahoma," commented OU Libraries Associate Dean of Knowledge Services and Chief Technology Officer Carl Grant. "In addition to its unified workflows, Alma provides comprehensive analytics that will offer us insights into our collections, including usage analysis and evolving trends. We see Alma as an essential ingredient in our drive to take the OU Libraries from being reactive and generic service organizations to proactive and highly personalized service organizations. In addition, through its powerful collaborative network functionality, Alma will open up the possibility of broader and closer collaboration with other academic organizations across Oklahoma and around the globe."
Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked: "The combination of Primo and Alma is a winning formula for the University of Oklahoma. Less than a year after OU Libraries' selection of Primo, we are delighted with their decision to adopt Alma across all affiliated libraries. Alma is proving to be the platform of choice for research libraries in the United States and globally, with a steadily expanding community of over 330 institutions. This decision sends a strong message that Alma plays a major role in supporting the strategic mission of leading academic institutions and in contributing to the fulfillment of their goals."
Attracting top students from across the nation and more than 100 countries around the world, the University of Oklahoma (OU) provides a major university experience in a private-college atmosphere.
