North Bethesda, MD, May 7, 2014- LibLime, a division of PTFS, and WALDO (Westchester Academic Library Director's Organization) are proud to welcome Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC), located in Bentonville, Arkansas, to the WALDO Koha Development Group. Northwest Arkansas Community College joins dozens of other academic and research institutions under the guidance of WALDO to enhance the LibLime Academic Koha ILS platform.
In the last six months, the WALDO Koha Development Group has released a new OPAC/Discovery Layer with a RESTful API to replace the older OPAC technology. LibLime Academic Koha 5.6 went into production in March, 2014 using the new OPAC/Discovery Layer. Coupled with the Solr search engine, and additional search performance enhancements, Academic Koha now offers researchers with a state-of-the-art search and retrieval experience. The adaption of additional NACO-approved punctuation matching rules for authority records along with an authority record batch merge tool has expanded authority control management.
Northwest Arkansas Community College is a comprehensive, public two-year college that serves and strengthens the community through learning. Founded in 1989, NWACC opened its doors to 1,200 students in August 1990 and currently has in excess of 8,000 college credit students, making it one of the largest and fastest-growing two year colleges in Arkansas. The hallmark of NWACC is its quality of education, with small classes taught by experts providing a personalized education experience. The commitment to life-long learning can be seen in the quality of instruction it offers, and the variety of programs it has designed to move students into the job market in a minimum amount of time, enrich people's lives, and prepare them for further education.
