Atlanta, GA, May 8, 2014 – Pioneer Library System, OK, received a finalist award at The Journal Record's 17th annual Innovator of the Year Awards ceremony in Oklahoma City. The nomination was in recognition of the library's groundbreaking and innovative approach to community outreach. Pioneer was the first library in the North America to install EnvisionWare's 24-Hour Library.
The two new 24-Hour Library facilities are strategically located in busy and diverse sections of the city of Norman, Oklahoma, to make it easier for community members to access library services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Nominations for the Innovator of the Year are submitted from across Oklahoma for products and services that "exemplify an innovative spirit." Pioneer was part of a select group that includes entrepreneurs from a diverse range of industries including health care, education and energy. Innovations ranged from a supercomputer capable of handling 35 trillion computations per second to an erosion protection coating for wind turbine blades to a biopharma organization formed to support early-stage therapeutic research.
"I am so impressed by the caliber of the organizations and individuals recognized," said EnvisionWare co-founder and CEO Mike Monk. "Pioneer was in good company with other innovators dedicated to making a difference in their communities and industries."
