Leiden, The Netherlands, 27 May 2014. Swets, the global leader in managing professional information for publishers, libraries and other information centers announced today that it has entered into a reseller arrangement with figshare. The agreement will see Swets actively promoting and selling figshare for institutions across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, excluding the United Kingdom.

Figshare, a portfolio company of Digital Science, offers a cloud-based digital repository that enables researchers to preserve and share their research output, including figures, datasets, images, and videos. Figshare for institutions is a simple, user-friendly and cost-effective solution for organizations to manage all of their institution's research output. It caters to the needs of anyone dealing with research data by providing important data management functions and various metrics for measuring the research output and its reach. All data in figshare can be cited, visualized, embedded and tracked through the system.

"Swets is delighted to add figshare for institutions into its portfolio of research productivity services for libraries and institutions," said Michael Leuschner, Commercial Director EMEA at Swets. "More and more funders mandate the publication of research data and it is also proven that sharing research data can have a positive impact on the overall cost and time spent on similar research projects. With both figshare's researcher and institutional platforms we enable libraries and the research office to provide unique value to their research community; gaining full visibility and analytics on their research data output and stimulating collaboration by sharing the data sets. A great feature of the tool is that all DOI's generated for published research data and used for citations can be ‘branded' with the name of the institutions."

"figshare is happy to be partnering with Swets in order to help more institutions better manage and disseminate their research outputs. As more and more research offices look for a cost efficient solution, Swets' domain knowledge can help bring 'figshare for institutions' to a wider audience," said Mark Hahnel of figshare.

Figshare is the research data management tool for researchers, academic institutions and publishers. The platform allows any file format to be made visualisable in the browser so that figures, datasets, media, papers, posters, presentations and filesets can be disseminated in a way that the traditional scholarly publishing model does not allow.
