Abstract: Navigator Management Partners has engaged with the Kuali Foundation to become an Additional Investor for the Kuali Student initiative. Additional Investors are higher education institutions or Kuali Commercial Affiliates that contribute staff time (at least two full time equivalents) or cash to assist with the build-out of KS initiatives.

COLUMBUS, Ohio Navigator Management Partners has engaged with the Kuali Foundation to become an "Additional Investor" for the Kuali Student (KS) initiative. "Additional Investors" are higher education institutions or Kuali Commercial Affiliates (KCAs) that contribute staff time (at least two full time equivalents (FTEs)) or cash to assist with the build-out of KS initiatives.

The Kuali Student project is a consortium of international institutions and KCAs working together to build a next-generation, open-source Student Information System (SIS). As the largest project within the Kuali suite, KS is undertaking the incremental development of software to provide a variety of student services as well as housing student data. Through modules such as Curriculum Management, Enrollment, Academic Planning, Student Accounts, and so many more, Kuali Student is giving institutions the functionality they need for a powerful SIS.

No stranger to the Kuali community, Navigator is a proven implementation partner. They have successfully implemented the Kuali Financial System (KFS) at the University of Arizona, Haverford College and the University of Maryland College Park. With the decision to expand beyond KFS, Navigator sees Kuali Student as a natural progression for their Kuali practice as institutions continue to adopt open source and community-based licenses for applications designed and built for higher education.

Other benefits to Navigator as an "Additional Investor" include early access and familiarization with KS products, access to the Functional Council, and membership on the Kuali Student Board. The KS community benefits by having additional resources to accelerate development and by having implementation consultants available who will be actively involved with the development of the software. Both parties are excited about this valuable partnership.
