Abstract: Civica announced an agreement with OverDrive to deliver seamless eBook access in Spydus 9. This partnership is one of the first for Spydus 9, and is the result of customer feedback requesting better integration of electronic resources in the public catalogue.
25 JUNE 2014: Civica, a leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations to transform the way they work, today announced an agreement with OverDrive to deliver seamless eBook access in Spydus 9. This partnership is one of the first for Spydus 9, and is the result of customer feedback requesting better integration of electronic resources in the public catalogue.
The e-content integration enables users to search, view availability, reserve and borrow OverDrive resources in a single platform search. For streamlined reporting, loans statistics for OverDrive resources are captured within Spydus, and users can view their digital and physical loans in a single library account.
"OverDrive was a natural starting point for integration as many of our libraries subscribe to OverDrive services," said Marc Nolan Civica Library Solutions Managing Director. "They came on board and worked quickly with Civica to develop the interface which now is the foundation for other e-content provider integrations."
"We've designed the OverDrive APIs so that partners can quickly and easily help readers discover digital entertainment and learning," said David Burleigh, OverDrive Director of Marketing and Communication. "Civica's Spydus 9 is a great example of how integrations with OverDrive APIs are allowing schools and libraries to maximize their investment in OverDrive technology for the benefit of people around the world."
