PROVO, Utah, June 12, 2002 – epixtech inc., the leading provider of library automation solutions for more than 10,000 libraries worldwide, today announced that Jack Blount has been named president and chief executive officer of the company. Blount, who has more than twenty-seven years of successful management experience, will be responsible for directing epixtech's strategic direction and day-to-day operations. Lana Porter, former president and CEO, has assumed the position of vice chairman of the epixtech Board of Directors.
“Jack has a successful track record of developing and implementing strategic plans and has successfully led companies in achieving rapid revenue growth and profitability by being customer service focused,” said John Ware, the chairman of the epixtech Board.
Blount brings to epixtech more than twenty-seven years experience in the computer industry and over twenty years senior management experience including the roles of chairman, president, chief executive officer, and chief technology officer. Prior to joining epixtech, Blount served as chief operating officer at Raindance Communications, a leading provider of enterprise collaboration solutions. Blount has been an executive in several successful companies such as Novell, Borland, U.S. Data Authority, J.D.Edwards, and IBM.
Blount has experience in all aspects of the technology arena including the Internet, telephony, collaboration, data networking, wireless networking, software and hardware. In addition to his technical expertise, Blount has had responsibility for sales, marketing and operations for both national and international products and services where he has continually produced consistent growth in revenues and profits. At U.S. Data Authority, Inc, a national network infrastructure company, Blount grew revenues by more than 300% as the company's CEO. He has also successfully launched new products in North America, Europe, Japan and Latin America.
Blount brings tremendous experience and understanding in the strength of partnering to expand technology and create new distribution channels. At Novell, he was responsible for implementing the concept of “coopetition” where he partnered closely with, while competing intensely against, companies like Microsoft, HP, IBM, AT&T and many others. He has developed partnerships with industry players in all of his executive positions, leveraging his experience and network of relationships to provide long-term value.

Blount graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Math and Computer Science with graduate MBA studies at IBM's Watson Institute and at SMU. Blount and his family will be relocating to Utah from their current home in Colorado.
