South Lanarkshire Council selects Civica to transform library services. Civica

South Lanarkshire Council, which is responsible for providing IT services to school libraries and to South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd has, following a mini-competition under a national framework agreement, chosen Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations transform the way they work, to host the Spydus library management system across 17 School Libraries and 25 Public Libraries. The new three year contract will transform each library’s internal processes, whilst making it more convenient for citizens and staff to access resources in person and online.

OMERS Private Equity, the private equity investment arm of the OMERS pension plan, has completed the purchase of Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services, from 3i Group plc and funds managed by 3i for an enterprise value of £390 million.

Civica South East Asia was recently pleased to be awarded the contract to provide Spydus LMS and Civica RFID solution to Brunei Polytechnic library. The training of library staff has commenced and go live is expected at the end of December, before the new term starts in January 2013.

Civica Taiwan was awarded the Tainan Municipal Library project. With about 40 branches, 570,000 patrons, and 500,000 Bibs, the Tainan Municipal Library will be the next significant Spydus8 client in the public library field, for Civica Taiwan. Together with the account from the Library of Pingtung County Cultural Centre (37 branches, 250,000 patrons, and 320,000 Bibs), Civica Taiwan will play an increasingly prominent role in the field.

Civica is to provide Kent Libraries, the UK’s largest library authority, with new library management systems in a contract valued at £1.6 million over the next five years. The programme will see Kent join the South East Library Management System consortium, in order to achieve enhanced reader services for over 1.3 million people as well as procurement savings.
