Civica announced the latest version of the collectionHQ interface which further enables libraries to manage and evaluate their collections. The new features include new fields for 65X subject areas for more in-depth analysis of your subject areas, series information that conform to the new RDA practices, Edition, Publication Dates, Added author, and Corporate author, as well as holds/reservations data to activate collectionHQ’s Holds Reporting Tools. The update also allows for the auto upload of data from Spydus to collectionHQ.

Civica announced the release of Spydus 9 Self Service, with Masterton District Library in New Zealand as the first customer to go live. Spydus Self Service, now core to Spydus 9, builds on Civica’s existing self service offering with added functionality including renewals, amendments to reservations and bookings, and viewing of patron details and summary. The Self Service module is part of the focus on supporting library patrons and providing a range of flexible solutions that cover web access, mobile and self service functions.

Civica announced a partnership with Baker and Taylor’s subsidiary James Bennett, the leader in library supply, to make their Axis 360 digital media resources readily accessible to library users in Spydus 9. This partnership to deliver seamless eBooks access is one of the first for Spydus 9. It enables users to search, view availability and borrow Axis 360 resources in a single transaction, without leaving the Spydus OPAC. Loans statistics for Axis 360 resources are captured within Spydus and borrowers can track both their digital and physical loans in a single library account.

South Lanarkshire Council, which is responsible for providing IT services to school libraries and to South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd has, following a mini-competition under a national framework agreement, chosen Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations transform the way they work, to host the Spydus library management system across 17 School Libraries and 25 Public Libraries. The new three year contract will transform each library’s internal processes, whilst making it more convenient for citizens and staff to access resources in person and online.
