Nearly two-thirds of U.S. and Canadian K-12 school districts are executing digital content plans aimed at helping students succeed in and out of the classroom, according to a recent survey conducted by cloud-based differentiated learning application Learning Bird. The survey results reveal 65 percent of school districts are transitioning to digital learning environments that align digital content with curricula while also providing teachers with professional development opportunities.

Washington D.C. K-12 School District Selects Follett’s Aspen Student Information System. Follett Software Company
District of Columbia Public Schools has selected Follett and its Aspen solution. Follett’s Aspen SIS will help the 47,000-student district capture, report, manage and analyze its student data, support enrollment, scheduling and behavior, and help track student attendance and prevent truancy. Comprised of 111 elementary and secondary schools and learning centers located in Washington, D.C., DCPS introduced Aspen into its elementary schools this year and plans to implement the solution districtwide this summer.

Houston Independent School District, the seventh largest K-12 school district in the country, has adopted Follett’s Destiny Library Manager for its new centralized, integrated library management solution. Destiny Library Manager will be implemented later this year throughout the 212,000-student district, which is comprised of 86 certified libraries and 282 campuses.
