<title>Utah Academic Library Consortium Chooses Ex Libris Primo for Digital Collection Discovery</title>

<description>(November 3, 2009). Ex Libris announced that the Utah Academic Library Consortium has chosen the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery platform for the Mountain West Digital Library. The Mountain West Digital Library is an aggregation of digital collections about the Mountain West region of the United States and provides free access to more than 270,000 resources in 314 collections from universities, colleges, public libraries, museums, archives, and historical societies in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, and Hawaii. Today, 11 regional hubs host the digital collections of 43 collections partners. Eight of the hosting hubs also serve as full-service digitization centers, providing scanning and metadata services.</description>

The two companies worked together to develop a Web Services application that allows libraries to adapt integrated ChiliFresh content into a customized results set display. Previously, subscribing libraries were limited to a standard display of book reviews; with the development of the new Web Services application, libraries have the ability to present book reviews and ChiliFresh content through their OPAC in whatever manner best suits their needs. </description>

OCLC now offers Metadata Services for Publishers, a new service that takes publishers' ONIX title metadata, enriches it using WorldCat mining and mapping techniques, and delivers the enhanced ONIX metadata back to the publishers for use in their systems. The publishers' enhanced metadata is then made available early in the data creation process to libraries for use in selection, acquisition and technical services workflows. Information seekers also benefit from Web discovery of this metadata via WorldCat.org, the Web destination for discovery of library resources.</description>

Dunedin (Tuesday 13 October) - Eight Otago and Southland councils have signed an historic Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in the delivery of public library services across the two regions.  The councils party to this Memorandum of Understanding are the Dunedin City Council, Invercargill City Council, Southland District Council, Queenstown Lakes District Council, Central Otago District Council, Waitaki District Council, Gore District Council and the Clutha District Council. The libraries collaborating under this Memorandum are collectively referred to as the SouthLib Consortium.</description>

<title>SirsiDynix Announces New Approach to Interacting with Global Marketplace</title>

<description>(October 13, 2009). SirsiDynix announces a realignment of senior management. Two senior executives will be taking on new positions. Matt Hawkins, Chief Operating Officer, has assumed sales and marketing initiatives, and is responsible for ensuring SirsiDynix meets all customer needs, from the early stages of the sales process all the way through implementation, training and ongoing client care support. As a part of this holistic approach to the customer, Hawkins is expanding the Library Relationship Manager program, which provides personal, high-touch account management services to SirsiDynix's largest and most complex customers and consortia members. Prior to this expanded role, Hawkins managed implementation, training and client care operations, measurably improving the company's service performance. John Gardiner, who joined the organization last year as the Chief Strategy Officer, has also taken on the role of Chief Financial Officer.</description>
