<title>The Government of Catalonia (Spain) Selects Millennium and INN-Reach</title>

The Culture and the Media Ministry of the Government of Catalonia (Spain) has selected the Millennium ILS and the INN-Reach consortial borrowing solution for the Catalonian Public Reading System, one of the largest regional library services in Europe. The new, eleven-million-item Catalonia Public Libraries Union Catalog will provide access and direct borrowing for users across all of Catalonia's public libraries, which span the regions of Girona, Lleida, Tarragona, and Terres de l'Ebre. Millennium is replacing VTLS Classic and Absys systems.</description>

The expanded membership now includes libraries and cultural heritage institutions in 22 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.</description>

<title>Bibliothèque nationale de France to add records to WorldCat</title>

OCLC and the Bibliothèque nationale de France signed an agreement to work cooperatively to add records from the French national library to OCLC WorldCat, the world's largest online resource for finding information in libraries. The Bibliothèque nationale de France and OCLC signed the agreement in Paris, setting in motion plans for OCLC to process an estimated 13.2 million bibliographic records from the Bibliothèque nationale de France.  Once records are added to WorldCat, they will be more visible and accessible to Web users worldwide through WorldCat.org, the destination for search and discovery of library materials on the Web.</description>

The New Hanover County Public Library selected TLC's Library.Solution automation system and several companion programs, including the LS2 PAC that makes it possible for library borrowers to access and view digital content. Library Director Harry Tuchmayer said New Hanover County had been using a VTLS integrated library system since 1992, and it was overdue for an upgrade.  But it would have cost $80,000 to implement the 21st century features that Tuchmayer wanted at his five library sites.</description>

VTLS prides itself on excellent customer service, and with the new system, VTLS further enhances its support services to customers worldwide. The new Global Support System utilizes two VTLS products, VITAL and Visualizer, in conjunction with two open-source products serving as the Customer Care System (SugarCRM Inc.) and the content management system (Joomla).  The VTLS Global Support System replaces the VTLS Information Management System that has served the company for several years. Based on a Customer Care System repository using VITAL, this database allows VTLS customer support staff to easily track and work to  address customer questions. The VITAL repository stores all the support information including release notes, user documentation, technical instructions, helpful hints, and other useful items.</description>

Developed in collaboration with most of the major scientific, technical and medical publishers, E-Package Renewals significantly improves the efficiency of the e-package renewal process for library staff. It addresses time-consuming and challenging problems associated with the e-package renewal process such as gathering and maintaining the information required to manage individual licenses, identifying inconsistencies in library and publisher records, managing capped pricing, and tracking titles as they move between publisher collections.</description>

Innovative announced today that the Saskatchewan Information and Library Services Consortium will install the Millennium ILS and use Encore as a discovery interface for the collections of the province's 10 public library systems across 320 locations. The Consortium is a new partnership among public libraries in the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan, which covers an area of 250,000 square-miles and has a population of over one million. The Millennium implementation, by virtue of the number of branch libraries, will be one of the largest implementations of a single Millennium system in the world. The libraries are migrating from SirsiDynix Horizon and other ILS systems.</description>

The Association of Research Libraries Board of Directors voted in support of a resolution introduced by its Scholarly Communication Steering Committee to strongly encourage ARL member libraries to refrain from signing agreements with publishers or vendors, either individually or through consortia, that include nondisclosure or confidentiality clauses. In addition, the Board encourages ARL members to share upon request from other libraries information contained in these agreements (save for trade secrets or proprietary technical details) for licensing content, licensing software or other tools, and for digitization contracts with third-party vendors.</description>
