As a next-generation services platform, Sierra is built on an open-systems architecture that provides a library with access to its circulation, technical services, and patron data though an open relational database and a suite of documented application interface extensions. Unlike other systems, Sierra offers out-of-the-box, fully featured library workflows and integrated resource management delivering the functionality and performance that libraries trust to run their operations. The Library is the first law library to successfully install the new system and is among over 790 libraries that have selected Sierra to date.</description>

<title>Vermont Organization of Koha Automated Libraries continues to add members</title>

The Vermont Organization of Koha Automated Libraries, is a project of the Green Mountain Library Consortium dedicated to creating a shared catalog and Integrated Library System. The project took flight in late 2007 with the installation of 3 stand-alone Koha instances to replace the libraries' legacy Follett systems and another 4 libraries automating into Koha through 2009. In 2010, VOKAL launched Vermont's first union catalog hosted and supported by ByWater Solutions with the majority of the implementations being undertaken in-house by the talented and forward-thinking VOKAL implementation team. VOKAL already has roughly 8 additional libraries slated to be migrated into their Koha union catalog by the end of 2012.</description>

The audit was conducted by British Standards Institute with the objective of assessing the quality management system in place at VTLS in its entirety. The teams came in with a blank slate and were tasked to start work on a completely new domain and a totally foreign set of data. The only single-person team was Hussein Ahmed, a software engineer at VTLS Inc. in Blacksburg. He single handedly won the grand prize with his application "HeyRecall."</description>

Since January 1, 2010, the SSLP has committed approximately $6.7 billion to middle market borrowers. GE Capital Markets and Ares Capital served as joint lead arrangers and joint bookrunners in a senior secured term loan provided by the SSLP to support the acquisition of Innovative Interfaces Inc. by Huntsman Gay Global Capital, LLC and JMI Equity. Innovative Interfaces Inc. is a provider of technology and services to over 4,500 public, private and academic libraries. In addition, GE Capital, through its GE Antares Capital subsidiary, provided a senior secured revolving credit facility in support of the transaction.</description>

<description>(April 18, 2012). OCLC and Credo Reference announced a special collaboration project aimed to increase collection visibility and usage with library users. Credo's Topic Pages will now be enhanced with WorldCat results to show local library materials alongside other timely, relevant Web materials. With this new project, libraries that are both OCLC members and Credo customers will receive Credo Topic Pages at no charge for an introductory period.  These libraries—along with current Topic Pages subscribers—will show WorldCat results from libraries worldwide that relate to the topic being searched. Libraries can have their results customized to show only local library holdings in WorldCat, as well as other customizations such as branding and deep links back to their catalog through this special project.</description>
