BURNSVILLE, MN) – On May 1, Mackin Library Media will acquire all sales and distribution assets of Tandem Library Books (formerly Sagebrush Books), a division of Tandem Library Group, including the registered trademarked Tandem Library Books name. Tandem Library Group's bindery will continue to operate and service its commercial accounts under the name Topeka Bindery as a separate company from Mackin. Tandem Library Services (formerly Catalog Card Corporation) will also operate individually under its parent company, Savia Library Services.
After nearly 40 years, the family that owns Tandem Library Books is retiring from the school library book distribution business. The family's objective is to entrust its library customers to another family-owned library services business that shared the same dedication to quality and superior customer service. Mackin is exactly that company.
Mackin Library Media, with over 350 employees, has grown steadily for almost 25 years, in large part due to its dedication to customization via an outstanding collection development system and by attending to the personal needs of its customers. For these and many other customer-first reasons, Tandem Library Books' customers will feel right at home with Mackin.
Mackin Library Media is a family-owned, Minnesota-based business, founded, owned and operated by Kitty and Randal Heise. According to Randal, "Tandem approached us with the mission of finding an ideal home for their longtime school library customers. When we realized that Tandem was leaving the business, it was an easy decision to offer our assistance and add Tandem's customers to the Mackin family. We know that Tandem customers will be happy in our care, and we are pleased to welcome them all."
Heise continued: "Even more importantly, every Tandem customer should rest assured that Mackin's reputation for personalized service will make this transition almost seamless. Our goal at Mackin is to welcome and assure every Tandem customer that Mackin's renowned customer service will be provided bright and early on May 1st, 2008. Within days we will prove to all Tandem's customers that staying with Mackin is like never leaving home."
"Mackin is the ideal buyer for Tandem," said Tandem Library Books spokesperson David Malmberg. "We wanted to place our customers in the best possible care, so we approached Mackin because both our companies share a strong commitment to personalized service. We are now fully assured that our customers are in good hands."
