Network World, a trade publication which operates its own testing laboratory, has evaluated eight firewall products on a number of criteria. The results were published in the June 1, 1998, issue (pages 53-61). While only eight products were tested, the article provides summary information on 35 firewall products.
Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd.'s Firewall-1, the leader in marketshare, was top-rated because of its broad functionality, ease of installation, and ease of use. The price range for this product is $2,995 to $18,990. CyberGuard Firewall was also very highly rated. Its price range was from $5,995 to $14,995.
