Many libraries are reluctant to invest $2,500 to $15,000 in an LCD projector to display enlarged PC images for group presentations. There is an alternative which costs only $100 or so when a large-screen TV is available. Known as PC-to-TV converters, the small units can be easily connected from a PC to a television set.
In addition to the limitations of TV screen size, image quality has been a serious limitation of converters. Average resolution for images has been 800 x 500 dots per inch. However, there are now high-end converters which push resolution up to 1,024 x 758 dots per inch at a cost of approximately $370-the latter producing a quality comparable to an $8,000 LCD projector.
PC-to-TV converters are available at most computer superstores.
