SLS acquisition begins to pay off for Innovative

Library Systems Newsletter [September 1998]

SLS Information Systems, the European Division of Innovative Interfaces, has announced that the University of Exeter Library has committed to migrate from its SLS LIBERTAS library management system to Innovative's INNOPAC Millennium. The new system will go live in January, 1999. The system will support the University's Mondex Smartcard system, an identification card with memory which is used throughout the institution.

The University of Exeter, which has a collection of over 1 million books, was one of the founding members of SLS Information Systems in the late 1960s.

SLS had previously announced that the University of St. Andrews in Scotland also with 1 million plus volumes was migrating from LIBERTAS to INNOPAC Millennium.

Vendors which have added products by acquisition have often had difficulty retaining the customers when the consolidation of the products begins. Innovative appears to be doing a good job holding onto key accounts.
