Government surplus PCs available

Library Systems Newsletter [October 1998]

Schools and non-profit educational organizations, including libraries, are entitled to surplus government computers and components under a program entitled Computers for Learning. In fiscal 1997 over 116,000 pieces of equipment were donated nationwide. A significant number of the machines were 486s. Participating agencies include the Departments of Defense, Justice, and Energy. Special consideration is given to schools in empowerment zones and areas of high unemployment.

Details of the program are available at www.computers.fed.gov or by calling 1-888-362-7870.
