Intel lines up Unix partners

Library Systems Newsletter [January 1999]

Intel has announced that a number of popular versions of UNIX will run on its new 64-bit Merced chip when it is introduced later this year. The company revealed that Sun's Solaris, Hewlett-Packard's HP/UX, Digital's UNIX, IBM's AIX, and SCO's UNIX are all being ported to its chip. That will give purchasers the option of UNIX or Windows 2000 on Intel.
