TLC releases Library.Solution version 2.00

Library Systems Newsletter [August 1999]

The Library Corporation (TLC) has released Version 2 of its Library.Solution automated library system. The new version includes a large number of enhancements, among them inventorying using a hand-held scanner, support for new self-checkout protocols, the ability for patrons to review their library accounts online, and the option for libraries to offer cataloged community information resources. The vendor has also included an enhanced Oracle database management facility that provides improved search performance and advanced searching options.

With these enhancements, and the recent launch of a joint venture with Pigasus Software Inc. to develop an interlibrary loan and document delivery system, Library.Solution rivals the breadth of functionality of the major automated library systems on the market. The combination of the NT operating system and Intel hardware platforms make Library.Solution very price competitive. Over 450 libraries (200 central sites) now use the system, twice the number of libraries using the system a year earlier.
