Library of Congress goes into production with Endeavor Voyager

Library Systems Newsletter [October 1999]

The Library of Congress has activated its Endeavor Voyager automated library system. On the August 16th launch date, there were over 12 million bibliographic records and 4 million authority records in the database. Two weeks later, the patron access Catalog went live. Acquisitions and serials were scheduled to be up in early October 1999-a few days after press time.

The database is the largest ever loaded on a multi-function automated library system. The only larger bibliographic databases are union catalogs and online reference services.
