Each year Computer Reseller News, a trade publication, polls resellers to determine PC price trends. In May 1998 more than 53 percent predicted that the average price of a PC would fall rapidly in the coming months; in May 1999 the percentage holding that view had dropped to 41 percent. Almost all of the shift was to the opinion of a slow price decline. The majority believe that waiting six months for the average price to drop, which was a good idea last year, is not a good strategy this year.
