Derwent Information has announced the release of the Derwent Innovations Index, a Web-based patent database that allows users to search the patent literature from more than 40 patent issuing authorities worldwide. In addition to being a useful tool in a patent search, it can provide a considerable amount of technical information. It has been estimated that as much as 90 percent of all information contained in patents is never published anywhere else.
The new product is linked to the Institute for Scientific Information's (ISI) Web of Science, a Web-based product which allows researchers to link bibliographic information about patents and products to patent records.
