GALILEO selects EBSCO FOLIO with support from EBSCO Information Services
Following an extensive procurement process, GALILEO has selected EBSCO FOLIOopens new tab and ReShare supported by EBSCO Information Servicesopens new tab for the shared system supporting the 26 institutions of the University System of Georgia and the Georgia Archives to replace its current Ex Libris Alma implementation. This announcement marks the only large-scale implementation of Alma to migrate to another platform. It further reinforces the momentum gained by EBSCO FOLIO in the last year, following its selection by the Library of Congress and the MOBIUS consortium. |

Mellon Foundation Grants $595,000 to support Coko development. Coko announced that the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a grant of $595,000 over 2 years to support the continued development of Ketida, the innovative web-based book production platform. The continued support of the Mellon Foundation is a testament to the strength of Coko's community-based open-source approach and the significant impact of Ketida in the publishing industry. Vega Discover launches new integrations with Axis360 and CloudLibrary. Innovative, part of Clarivate, announced an expansion of Vega Discover's end-to-end integrations to enable the automatic ingestion of bibliographic records from electronic content vendors into Vega Discover catalogs. Park Cities Presbyterian Church live on Koha with ByWater Support. ByWater Solutions announced that the Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas is now live on Koha ILS with ByWater Support. National Library welcomes announcement of ongoing Trove funding. The National Library of Australia welcomes the commitment made by the Albanese Government to provide $33m over the next 4 years to maintain Trove, with $9.2m ongoing and indexed funding from July 2027. We are delighted that Trove's future has been secured. [Full Announcement].
GALILEO Chooses FOLIO Library Services Platform. GALILEO has selected FOLIO as its new Library Services Platform (LSP), with plans to share FOLIO with 86 libraries from 26 colleges and universities across the University System of Georgia (USG) and the Georgia Archives. GALILEO will utilize EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) for implementation and hosting services via EBSCO FOLIO. GALILEO will begin migrating these new technologies in 2023, with plans to be fully operational by June 2025. In addition to FOLIO, GALILEO will implement a consortial borrowing solution that is being developed by Knowledge Integration, a key software developer and a part of Project ReShare. EBSCO Information Services introduces EBSCOhost Passport browser extension. EBSCO Information Service is making research more streamlined for library users and researchers with the launch of the EBSCOhost Passport browser extension. EBSCOhost Passport provides a more efficient solution for those who begin their search for information on a traditional search engine, allowing them to find, use and cite reliable resources while utilizing their library's resources. Lehi City Library (UT) launches Patron Point. Patron Point announced that Lehi City Library, in Lehi, UT has selected its patron engagement platform to support its mission of encouraging lifelong learning. Lehi City Library offers a welcoming atmosphere to encourage learning and offers various storytime and craft programs for youth along with adult and family programming. Among the services provided are computer access, free WiFi, books, and e-resources. Lehi City Library circulates more than 500,000 items per year and serves a population of over 70,000 residents. Equinox at the Connecticut Library Association 2023 Conference. Polaris 7.4 delivers new serials functions in Leap, multi-factor authentication, and more. Innovative, part of Clarivate, announced that Polaris 7.4 has been released. The Leap web staff client sees many improvements in this release, including support for multi-factor staff authentication. Ardmore Public Library (OK) saves time with its new ILS from TLC. Ardmore Public Library is now using the Library.Solution integrated library system from The Library Corporation. TLC welcomed Ardmore to its family of libraries last fall, completing the migration services for the single-site library from its previous Polaris system. The library was able to use its Choice Partners membership to select TLC's entirely web-based platform. [Full Announcement].

Cambridge open access fees waived for over 100 countries. The Cambridge Open Equity Initiative allows scholars to reach the widest possible audience by making open access a free option for them. From 1 July 2023, authors from 5,000 institutions in 107 countries will not need to apply for funding to publish under the Cambridge Open Equity Initiative, which covers 400 Cambridge journals. Critically, this fund will be a publisher-library collaboration, recognising the role multiple stakeholders are playing in the open access transformation. [Full Announcement].

Portico and KB extend their collaboration to support preservation of the scholarly record. Portico and the KB, National Library of the Netherlands, announced that they have extended their longstanding collaboration to host an online replica of the Portico archive at the KB. [Full Announcement].
Performing Arts Readiness Extension. Lyrasis, a mission-driven, community-led nonprofit serving libraries, museums and cultural heritage organizations, announced that they have been awarded a $1.5M grant from the Mellon Foundation to continue and expand the Performing Arts Readiness project. PAR, initially funded in 2017 through a $2.5 million grant from Mellon, was created to strengthen emergency preparedness within performing arts organizations across the United States. Agent Information Software (AIFS) publishes 2022 audited financials. Agent Information Software, the parent company of Auto-Graphics, has released audited 2022 year-end financials as part of their Annual Report. AIFS reported a net income of $371k for 2022 and total revenue of $5,259k (an increase of $71k from 2021). Recurring revenue remains solid for 2022 at $5,157k with $101k in non-recurring sales. Basic and diluted earnings per share finished 2022 at $0.08 and $0.07, respectively. A cash dividend of $0.035 per share was approved by the AIFS Board of Directors at its annual shareholders meeting on May 25, 2022. The dividend was distributed on June 30, 2022, to all stockholders on record as of June 15, 2022. [Full Announcement].
Oklahoma State University to adopt the FOLIO Library Services Platform with EBSCO FOLIO. Oklahoma State University Library begins the transition to the FOLIO Library Services Platform using EBSCO FOLIO hosting and implementation services from EBSCO Information Services. The switch from its existing ILS to FOLIO will allow OSU to choose its preferred library automation solutions to maximize the workflow experience and build its own customizations. Fight for the First: EveryLibrary launches action platform to defend First Amendment Rights against book banning and Censorship. The First Amendment is under attack. A startling increase in book banning and attacks on public libraries is taking place across the country, attacks frequently backed by powerful organizations with extremist political aims. One chilling example is the 20% loss of voter support for libraries in the last 10 years (according to the latest Awareness to Funding report). Even more alarming, these unprecedented attacks frequently target members of marginalized and historically disenfranchised communities, such as people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ population. EveryLibrary launched a beta version of Fight for the First eight weeks ago. In that short time, more than 20,000 Americans have signed dozens of local and statewide petitions against book bans and censorship in the United States. This platform has helped local organizers win in places like Glen Ridge, New Jersey. It helped activists build a campaign against legislation in Utah. Follett makes donation to students displaced by California flooding. Follett has joined forces with Capstone to donate much-needed school supplies to the children in Pajaro, California who were displaced after their small community was flooded last month. The venerable education companies donated and shipped 1,000 books and activities to the students relocated in the wake of the Pajaro River levee break. CCC, a leader in advancing copyright, accelerating knowledge, and powering innovation, announced it has signed a bilateral agreement with the Malaysia Reprographic Rights Centre (MARC) to support its operations and the development of copyright-compliant content consumption in Malaysia benefitting both rightsholders and content users. ProConsort announced that ATLAS Systems licensed services are now available to purchase nationwide, using the new ProConsort Portal. University of Huddersfield takes its ILL turnaround time from 2-5 days to 9 hours. Ex Libris welcomed the University of Huddersfield Library to its global resource-sharing community. Always on the lookout for ways to improve their services, Huddersfield University has recently integrated RapidILL into its suite of solutions to automate its interlibrary-loan request processing. In 6 months only, the University has seen its average turnaround time drop from 2-5 days to 9 hours. [Full Announcement].

Big Ten Academic Alliance and JSTOR Announce Multi-year Agreement for Path to Open Pilot. The research libraries of the Big Ten Academic Alliance have entered into a multi-year pilot agreement with JSTOR to support Path to Open, a new cost-effective, sustainable publishing model for supporting frontlist university press monographs and making them open access after three years. More than 30 university presses and hundreds of authors are part of Path to Open. The initial 100 books will be released on JSTOR in the fall of 2023, with an additional 300 titles being published annually during the term of the pilot, 2024-2026. Path to Open participating libraries will have access to the titles during the first three years, and thereafter all titles will be converted to open access, benefiting readers worldwide. Path to Open books will be available DRM free with unlimited user access and integrated with other scholarly content on the JSTOR platform, including thousands of books, journals, and primary source collections. Chicago Public Library is awarded a $2 Million grant from the Mellon Foundation to Make Black History More Accessible to the Public. On behalf of Chicago Public Library, the Chicago Public Library Foundation has received a historic $2 million grant from the Mellon Foundation to power the Renaissance Project, which supports access to Black history-related archives across library branches in the City of Chicago. This transformational funding will allow the library to digitize and process critical documents related to Black history from the 1800s to the present, bring high-quality research materials and holistic programming to every branch across the city, and support the learning of Black history for a new generation of K-12 Illinois students of all races and backgrounds. Available in OverDrive Marketplace, the world's largest catalog for school and library digital book sales, OverDrive Max was specifically designed to provide greater flexibility and value for library budgets to meet the increased demand for digital books. It is quickly becoming the fastest growing sales model for authors and publishers seeking to maximize their revenue from institutional buyers. OverDrive Max enables libraries to purchase bundles of up to 100 loans for specific titles for lending with flexibility for concurrent use based on patron demand with no expiration date, often at the lowest cost. Equinox Open Library Initiative welcomed Homer Public Library to Sequoia, Equinox's cloud-based platform for library automation services, with the hosting of their instance of Evergreen ILS. Spanish Public Administration special libraries partner with OCLC to develop BIBLESPAGE union catalog. The Aspen Discovery 23.04 release introduces community sharing for languages and themes as well as lots of updates to our events functionality including Communico integration. With the introduction of our Community Content Server, libraries have the option to share any theme with the Aspen Community. Libraries will also be able to offer patrons more than one theme, providing options to help with specific accessibility needs as well as patron preferences. The Community Content Server has several new built-in themes including a dark mode as well as both light and dark contrast modes that libraries can download and enable. Themes imported from the Community Content Server can of course also be modified locally to meet branding needs and preferences. This release also introduces new event functionality including the ability to save events to the patron account as well as patron lists with support for Browse Categories.
