SirsiDynix acquired by Harris Computing
SirsiDynix, has been acquired by Harris Computing, one of six operating companies of Constellation Software, Inc. It purchased SirsiDynix from ICV Partners, a private equity firm that has owned it since February 2015. Unlike private equity firms, Constellation does not sell the companies it acquires. It follows a strategy of acquiring businesses from founders or investors and holding them indefinitely. The acquisition marks a definitive exit from ongoing cycles of private equity investment into a permanent position within a public company specializing in the administration of technology-focused businesses. SirsiDynix has seen two rounds of private equity ownership, including Vista Equity Partners and ICV Partners.As part of Harris, SirsiDynix gains access to additional technical and financial resources. Harris has deep experience in acquiring and strengthening technology companies. In contrast, SirsiDynix was the only technology company within the ICV Partners portfolio.
The History of SirsiDynix
SirsiDynix has become established as the largest standalone library technology company, continually expanding over its 40-year business history. The company has developed important library technology products which have been implemented by libraries across many global regions. It has also expanded through the acquisition of competitors, many of which had seen their own cycles of mergers and acquisitions. SirsiDynix traces its business history through Sirsi Corporation, Dynix, Data Research Associates, and several other companies each with their own interesting narratives. At least fourteen antecedent companies are represented in its corporate lineage.

BiblioCommons welcomed Burlington County Library System in New Jersey as its newest Partner Library. Equinox Equinox provides VuFind consulting and IT services for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, announced its collaboration with the Historical Society of Pennsylvania to provide technical consulting for HSP's implementation of the open source discovery layer, VuFind. Grove Grove adds new formats, support for multiple pickup locations at a branch, LiDA Updates, and more to the Aspen 25.01 Release. Libraries are constantly evolving in both the materials and services they offer to patrons, and it is crucial that library discovery software keeps up with these changes. OCLC WISPALS Library Consortium selects OCLC's WorldShare Management Services as its library services platform. The WISPALS Library Consortium, a consortium of Wisconsin technical colleges, has selected WorldShare Management Services as its library services platform. American Library Association Submissions now open for the 2025 John Cotton Dana Awards. The American Library Association is now accepting submissions for the 2025 John Cotton Dana Award. The John Cotton Dana Award is one of the most prestigious awards given to up to eight libraries for outstanding library public relations. The $10,000 awards will be provided by the H.W. Wilson Foundation and honors the best library marketing efforts nationwide. Applications for the JCD Award should be submitted electronically and received by March 3, 2025. [Full Announcement].

Taylor and Francis Taylor & Francis eBooks platform integrates with GetFTR. GetFTR and Taylor & Francis announced that Taylor & Francis eBooks are now accessible via GetFTR. Whilst many publishers working with GetFTR already include eBook content in their entitlement checks, Taylor & Francis is the first to implement GetFTR entitlement checking specifically for books hosted on a separate platform.GetFTR provides researchers with faster access to the published research they need through real time, high quality entitlement checks. The GetFTR indicator on search results tells researchers which content their institution has made available to them and takes them directly to that research on participating publisher websites. Clarivate Three California State University Campuses join the Alethea Early Adopter Program by Clarivate. Clarivate, a leading global provider of transformative intelligence, announces that three California State University campuses will be early adopters of Alethea, an AI student engagement solution from Clarivate. Lyrasis LA Referencia and Lyrasis collaborate to enhance the management of DSpace repositories in Latin America and Spain. LA Referencia and Lyrasis announced the launch of a joint project starting on January 1, 2025, focused on improving the capacity, accessibility and management of open-source platforms across Latin America and Spain. This initiative reflects a commitment to advancing open access to knowledge in these regions by addressing key challenges in repository maintenance, upgrades and user support. The project stems from a collaborative spirit solidified during a meeting held between the LA Referencia Council and the Lyrasis Board of Trustees in Rio de Janeiro held on March 18-19, 2024. IGI Global IGI Global Scientific Publishing announces conference scholarship winners. Systematic Group Systematic re-wins valuable contract for Denmark's library system. Systematic has just signed an important, three-digit DKK million contract with the Danish municipalities' joint IT organisation KOMBIT to continue the development and operation of the IT system for all public and school libraries in Denmark until 2038. Supplying Denmark's national library system since 2015 has opened doors to new international markets for Systematic with its Cicero library system. The contract expires at the end of 2025, and KOMBIT's choice of supplier for the Common Library System 2.0 has been eagerly awaited by the software company. Systematic was awarded the contract shortly before New Year, and will now develop and implement the libraries' new IT solution as well as handling operations and further development in the coming years. The contract, signed with KOMBIT on behalf of Denmark's 's municipalities, has an estimated value of DKK 220 million, or about $30 million USD. [Full Announcement].

The Tennessee Higher Education Commission along with the Tennessee Board of Regents announced a new partnership with Ithaka S+R to expand educational opportunities for adult learners across the state. The research project will bring together leaders from Tennessee's community colleges to develop innovative strategies supporting degree completion for Tennesseans who have previously earned college credits but did not finish and cannot return due to account holds. Audio Publishers Association Digital Audiobooks lead growth in library circulation for the second year. Digital audiobooks continue to dominate circulation in US public libraries, with strong growth in both adult and youth audiobook collections. A new survey conducted by Library Journal and School Library Journal, in partnership with the Audio Publishers Association, highlights the ongoing shift towards digital audio content.
