The library staff feels that this system was developed by technology people, not librarians, and does not reflect much understanding of how a library works. In our opinion, It is not very user-friendly. However, this was an expensive endeavor, paid for with a grant, and we cannot afford to change systems; therefore, will be continuing with it for an indefinite future.
Atriuum has been everything we wanted and needed it to be. Reps from company couldn't be better - everyone has been an absolute joy to work with. I almost wish we had problems so I could call and talk to them. I would recommend this sytem to anyone and if they want to know why they can just call me.
Book Systems is a small ILS provider. I have been encouraging them to work on the front end of their website to add more social networking tools for customer service. I think they need to look at new models for training and upgrading the ILS features. The company President is quite responsive to these ideas, but my sense is that she does not have staff in place to implement these new models.
Book Systems is extremely responsive to user input, and very prompt in offering technical backup.
Booksystems has been amazing to work with. Tech support gets back to us quickly and will modify the program if we have additional needs. I would recommend them to anyone considering migration to a new program.
We do not feel that Atriuum was ready for release when it was installed at our facility. We endured many months of trial and error which created frustration and aggravation for our staff members.
We were one of the first public libraries to migrate to Atriium in 2006; together we have both grown and become attached. I am impressed with the personal attention to details and the numerous reports that can be created. I would give them an overall "A" grade for their efforts in the last three years!
Support staff at Book Systems has always proved to be extremely helpful.
Overall, I have been happy with Atriuum. The biggest problem has not been with Atriuum itself but with our network. Because our network is really slow, Atriuum frequently runs very slowly. It can take a long time to process any kind of transaction.
Book Systems has wonderful customer service. A live person answers the phone and directs you to the proper person. All issues are then handled in a timely manner. They work hard to resolve any problem and are always doing new updates to repair these issues.
We have a very small budget soeven if we wanted more we have to wait for money. Atrium is wonderful. Much better than Follett. I wish all libraried would try it. It covers every aspect of a libarians duties electronically.
Atriuum user friendly - wish there was a separate page to enter notes on about patron so other staff members could see what was told to patron.
We have 3 branches in our library system and it does not matter where we have a problem at the tech support staff that they have works with the Administrative staff the same as the regular staff, they are very patient and they walk you through any problems you may have. The great thing about the system is that if you find something that you have a suggestion of improving they will listen to your suggestions and then correct it in the next upgrade. We are very satisified with the system and the support staff.
We would like to be able to order from vendors, have those items placed ''On Order" and when the item comes in, we would like to be able to upload straight into Atriuum, add a barcode and when we save the item would automatically be removed from 'On Order' made to show in OPAC and pick up any reserves previously placed on it all without purchasing extra expensive accounting products.
We have had several problems with the company that hosts our ILS in the previous year.
Very attentive staff and tech support. Suggestions for upgrade features seem to be seriously considered. Book Systems also provides APS server for us, which is extremely stable, virtually no down time.
