Polaris Library Systems partners with EnvisionWare to offer enterprise ecommerce services

Syracuse, NY, October 10, 2013 – Polaris Library Systems, a pioneer in the development of library technology solutions for public, private and academic libraries, announced today an integration partnership with EnvisionWare, a leading provider of self-service and library-efficiency solutions. The partnership offers patrons and staff one modular, integrated system for self-service payment throughout the library.

"The EnvisionWare partnership enables patrons to pay for self-service transactions throughout the library using the Polaris catalog interface," said Polaris President & CEO, Bill Schickling. "It also provides staff with enhanced point-of-sale capabilities and auditing control through the Polaris staff client using a system that is PCI compliant and VeriFone certified."

With the integration, patrons continue to log onto the Polaris PowerPAC to pay fines and fees. Patrons can also pay fines at the Polaris ExpressCheck or EnvisionWare OneStop self-service circulation stations.

For libraries using EnvisionWare's PC Reservation and LPT:One products for computer and print management, patrons can also pay for print management, as well as copying and other services, using the Polaris Credit Account, cash or credit cards. With this single sign-on, patrons have the option to pay using self-service payment devices or their Polaris Credit Account.

Library staff can use the Polaris interface to administer and manage commerce services. Staff have the option to process point-of-sale transactions such as selling bus passes, book bags and other over-the-counter transactions using EnvisionWare's Staff Register (STS), as well as to query fine amounts, accept payments, and automatically post and clear fines in the Polaris patron record. The new solution is seamlessly integrated so that staff are directed automatically through the workflow.

"This partnership combines the rich functionality of the Polaris ILS with the enterprise suite of self-service products offered by EnvisionWare," said EnvisionWare co-founder and CEO, Mike Monk. "The result is a seamless user experience for self-service eCommerce transactions throughout the library."
