Huntsville, AL ‐ Book Systems, Inc., an innovative leader and provider of library automation solutions, announces their strategic partnership with Unique Management Services (UMS), integrating their Atriuum ILS Debt Management module with Unique Management's Gentle Nudge approach.
Atriuum's Debt Management module provides an automated system for referring delinquent patrons over to a collection agency so your library can recoup fines for late, damaged, or lost items as well as outstanding fees. By utilizing the Gentle Nudge approach provided by UMS, libraries recover overdue materials, fines, and fees without alienating their patrons.
Libraries using the Debt Management module for Atriuum can define their parameters for sending patrons to be referred for recovery. Based upon the criteria selected, once a week, month, or even daily, Atriuum automatically sends the referred patrons to UMS.
UMS provides a combination of written communications and telephone calls that are specialized to provide a Gentle Nudge to encourage patrons to return materials to the library while still maintaining patron goodwill.
Atriuum provides a report to the library detailing the patrons involved. On a nightly basis, related payment and items returned information is reported back to UMS. This process greatly reduces the stress of dealing with collections and requires minimal day‐to‐day staff involvement.
