Libris, part of Clarivate, is pleased to announce that three prestigious liberal arts colleges in Maine – Bates, Bowdoin and Colby Colleges – selected Ex Libris Alma and Primo to improve their library services, and provide a better user experience for students, faculty, and staff. The colleges will go live on their new system this summer.
The decision to switch to Alma and Primo was made after an extensive joint evaluation process by the three colleges. Their primary goal was to find a library management system that could support both current and future needs, as well as provide a better user experience for their patrons. Alma and Primo met their requirements offering a modern, flexible, and user-friendly solution. Through this new solution, the three colleges will also continue to participate in the statewide consortium Maine InfoNet for resource sharing across academic, public, and special libraries in Maine.
Patricia A. Schoknecht, Vice President of Information & Library Services and College Librarian at Bates College, Marjorie Hassen, Director of the College Library at Bowdoin College, and Kevin L. Smith, Director of Libraries at Colby College worked very closely together and issued a joint statement to share their enthusiasm with the decision:
"Bates, Bowdoin and Colby are continuing their long history of collaboration by migrating their shared library services platform to Alma and Primo. The Consortium chose Alma as our new LSP to improve the efficiency of our processes and workflows through the development of the CBB Network Zone. All three of our schools are excited about the new possibilities afforded by this change and we look forward to sharing this with our campus communities."
The Ex Libris Higher Education Platform offers a comprehensive solution for managing library resources, improving the user experience, and supporting data-driven decision-making. This move demonstrates the colleges' commitment to providing their students, faculty, and staff with the best possible library services and resources.
Alma is a cloud-based library services platform used by more than 2,400 libraries around the world.
