Rome, Italy and Oslo, Norway -- October 6, 2023. TIND is happy to announce the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has officially launched TIND IR, building on their existing TIND ILS platform. WFP`s move from Virtua ILS to TIND represents not only a change of systems but a leap forward in efficiency, accessibility, and ease of use for both staff and end-users. TIND IR and ILS within the same platform marks a pivotal moment in the advancement of WFP's technological infrastructure, providing essential discovery and management tools for their print and digital footprint.
The IR and ILS hybrid solution strengthens the collaboration between the World Food Programme and UN sister agency, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), also using TIND ILS in their platform.
An upcoming project and joint effort has been launched to harvest records between IFAD and WFP's TIND platforms through the use of Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). This integration will allow the two UN agencies to easily exchange important data, facilitating the agencies in their mission to provide food help and improve farming worldwide.
